About this Event
Aloke Dasgupta is among the most outstanding and original sitar players in North Indian (Hindustani) classical music. His style both nostalgically represents the traditional sitar greats of the past, and embraces contemporary influences from rock, jazz, new-age, and world musics. Erudite and articulate, with a master's degree in Ethnomusicology from San Diego State University, Aloke has performed globally in Tokyo, Berlin, Amsterdam, Brussels, New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. He has also played for Mick Jagger, Ozzy Osbourne, Gwen Stefani, as well as with Cheap Trick in their top-rated show “Sgt. Pepper Live.”
