Prerequisite: Completion of the FAU Sandler School of Social Work Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certificate Course
Description:
Consistent with all models of psychotherapy training, the participant will have the opportunity to meet with the instructors for case consultation. Participants will be expected to present case material, protecting all identifying information for the sake of confidentiality, utilizing the CBT case conceptualization as well as CBT specific interventions. Participants will receive feedback and suggestions from instructors as well as other students.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss clients utilizing the CBT Case Conceptualization
2. Identify specific CBT interventions for issues clients present in treatment
3. Compare CBT to other empirically supported approaches of psychotherapy
This program plus the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certificate Course (click for details) fulfills the education requirement of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT) of a minimum of 40 credit hours of specific education in CBT. About the Presenters:
David Landsman-Wohlsifer, Ph.D., LCSW is a Diplomate and Certified member of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy. Dr. Wohlsifer is the co-founder of The Boca Raton Center for Psychotherapy in Boca Raton, FL, and on the faculty of Florida Atlantic University's School of Social Work. He was formerly a clinical faculty member and therapist at Center for Cognitive Therapy, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania and have extensive experience as a CBT therapist, supervisor, and trainer. He is also a Florida certified sex therapist.
Jeff Shearer, ACSW, LCSW, MCAP earned his Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University in 1992 and attained his LCSW in 1994. He is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers and is a Certified Addictions Professional credential from the Florida Certification Board, as well as Nationally Roster Child Parent Psychotherapist. Mr. Shearer served as the Chief Executive Office and co-founder of Tykes & Teens, Inc. in Stuart, Florida, an agency that provides counseling services to infants, children, adolescents and their families, and is currently in private practice in Wilton Manors.
