DESCRIPTION:Data Engineering Hackathon for Precision Medicine\n\nKickoff ev
 ent: Friday\, February 7 at 4:00pm in EE 106\n\nHackathon: Friday\, Februa
 ry 28 at 5:00pm to Saturday\, March 1 at 5:00pm.\n\n \n\nThree top teams r
eceive up to $10\,000 in cash prizes. Judges will determine the prize amou
nts.\n\n \n\nData engineering workflows are critical for the handling of a
nd knowledge generation from contemporary massive datasets\, yet when tack
ling problems in precision medicine the datasets are often characterized a
 s enormous\, unstructured\, biased\, sparse\, and consisting of private an
d sensitive information\, which present significant hurdles! Participate i
n this hackathon to learn\, explore\, and win prizes! A series of short wo
rkshops/talks by industry and academic experts will help you learn and fue
l your creativity to propose tools\, frameworks\, and solutions for precis
ion medicine using the massive All of Us dataset as a testbed!\n\n \n\nThi
s valuable opportunity will help fuel the next step in your career\, allow
ing you to highlight a practical\, team-oriented\, and data-drive project
on your resume\, to network with peers with similar ambitions and educatio
nal goals\, and to showcase your innovativeness\, computational skillset\,
and capacity for teamwork to hackathon sponsors and partners\, which may
help open doors for future internships and employment.\n\n \n\nFor informa
tion about this successful event from last year\, please see the press rel
ease from the College of Engineering and Computer Science: https://www.fau
 .edu/engineering/news/2410-precision-medicine-hackathon/.\n\n \n\nREGISTER
  HERE: https://canvas.fau.edu/enroll/G3YPR7\n\n[all hackathon resources wi
ll be shared on this Canvas course page]\n\n \n\nOnce registered\, please
complete the All of Us Dataset Onboarding assignment published on the Canv
as page. This onboarding assignment must be completed by February 7 to par
ticipate in the hackathon.\n\n \n\nPre-hackathon Workshops in EE (Engineer
ing East) room 106 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on February 7\, February 14\, and
February 21 come with free hackathon fuel—pizza!\n\n \n\nTeams of four
or five students will participate in pre-hackathon workshops where leading
researchers and practitioners will present challenges and opportunities i
n developing data analytics solutions for precision medicine. These talks
are scheduled for 4:00pm - 6:00pm on February 7\, February 14\, and Februa
ry 21 and will help teams navigate the All of Us data resource as well as
to understand the hurdles and outstanding problems facing precision medici
ne today. Speakers from IBM\, Aventusoft\, Memorial Healthcare\, and other
partners. Teams will check in on February 28 at 5:00pm to enter the hacka
thon. Register and come to the kickoff to learn more! If you do not have a
team\, then we will help you join a team on February 7.\n\n \n\nKickoff m
 eeting on February 7\, 4:00pm – 6:00pm in EE 106\n\n \n\nSpeakers: \n\n
