About this Event
Instructor: Gary Cadwallader, MFA
In 1905 New York City, African-American seamstress Esther designs extraordinary intimate apparel for both society women and ladies of the evening. Her Orthodox Jewish fabric supplier, Mr. Marks, bonds deeply with Esther over their shared passion for beautiful cloth. By two-time Pulitzer Prize-winner Lynn Nottage, "Intimate Apparel" explores the intersection of loneliness, longing, and resiliency. In this interactive discussion about the Palm Beach Dramaworks production, P.B.D.'s Gary Cadwallader, using interesting multimedia clips, examines the characters, the play's major themes, and its sociological relevance today. Participants receive a copy of the play beforehand, along with a P.B.D. Dramaguide written specifically for this discussion. Participants leave with a deeper understanding of the play and the period in which it is set.
