Due to the circumstances caused by the Coronavirus pandemic, homeschooling has gained the attention of families considering alternatives to in-person and virtual schooling.  Simone Chin, a 4th year homeschooling mom of two boys, retells the story of her family’s journey into starting homeschooling by offering a candid peek into their lives as new homeschoolers (including the good and bad).  She answers the most common questions asked by curious parents she has met on the playground and gives some insight into the reality of homeschooling with the hopes to empower and encourage parents who are considering and deciding to homeschool.

Simone Chin is a homeschooling mom to her two sons, ages 5 and 8.  She is also the Assistant Director of the Sunflower Play Initiative, a community outreach program that strives to give all children access to child-directed free play. Before beginning her homeschool journey, she earned her doctorate in Experimental Psychology with an emphasis in Cognition and Development from Florida Atlantic University in 2014 and taught undergraduate and graduate-level courses.
