Referencing historic book layout, we will make a flat sheet of paper into a folio that can stand alone as a card or be bound with more folios to create a book. This method allows for imaging only one side of the paper and the ability to have an image to cross the center fold without interruption. This is a very basic but useful technique for printmakers or anyone who makes flat work on paper and wants to explore a simple but effective way to image pages for a book. Using dry media art supplies, participants will make an image, place some text if desired, fold their folio and bind it into a simple cover using the pamphlet stitch. This workshop is less about structure and more about how to think of content placement.
Advance registration is required for all JCBA workshops. For more details or to register, please email JCBA Director John Cutrone (email@example.com).
