About this Event
“Medicine During the Holocaust and Its Contemporary Relevance: Perspectives from Health Professions Students." Featuring presentations by Hedy S. Wald, PhD, Alpert Medical School of Brown University, and Sabine Hildebrandt, MD, Harvard Medical School, the presentation will be followed by a panel discussion with health profession learners from four countries. Both Drs. Wald and Hildebrandt are commissioners of the Lancet Commission on Medicine and the Holocaust, of which Dr. Hildebrandt serves as co-chair, and the students serve on the commission’s Student Advisory Council. David J. Skorton, MD, president and CEO of the AAMC, will provide opening remarks.
Medical educators often seek ways to inform the development of their learners' professional identity, from how to address misinformation and disinformation to how to learn lessons from our past to better inform our future practice. This webinar will provide an opportunity to use the humanities - specifically the study of history - for critical reflection on the role of medicine in the Holocaust and its relationship to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in contemporary times.
