Professors Taylor Hagood and Mark Scroggins will read from recent work on Wednesday September 20 at 7pm in the Majestic Palm Room at FAU Boca Raton.
Taylor Hagood is the author, most recently, of Stringbean: The Life and Murder of a Country Music Legend. He teaches American literature at FAU, with specialization in the writing of William Faulkner, African American literature, disability studies, thing studies, and the literature and culture of the United States South. Increasingly, he is exploring comparative approaches that span disciplines, such as ecocriticism, animal studies, and the Anthropocene. His books include Secrecy, Magic, and the One-Act Plays of Harlem Renaissance Women Writers and Faulkner: Writer of Disability.
Mark Scroggins taught in the FAU English department for many years. He is a poet, biographer, and critic. His recent books include the poetry collection Pressure Dressing, the essay collection The Mathematical Sublime: Writing About Poetry, and a selection of the erotic poetry of Algernon Charles Swinburne.
