Presenter: Allan Barsky, JD, MSW, PhD

CEUs: 3 Ethics CEUs

Tired of continuing education workshops that cover the same old material year after year? Then this workshop is for you! In August 2017 the NASW updated the NASW Code of Ethics. This workshop provides participants with the updates, their rationale, and applications to everyday practice. Changes to the Code relate to the use of technology, cultural competence, disability, professional boundaries, and confidentiality.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify and explain the 2017 changes to the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Apply the new criteria for determining when it is appropriate to breach confidentiality when clients pose a risk to themselves or others.
  • Make changes to their policies and procedures to attend more to ethical concerns regarding the use of technology in social work practice.
